Acne medicine, are you taking it? Chances are if you are a teen you are taking some kind of medicine or doing some routine to clear up acne. There are even adults with acne problems and they want theirs to go away too. Contrary to what dermatologists tell you, some people never outgrow acne.

For some adults it’s back acne that gets them and for others it’s still on the face. No matter your age or where your acne is you want something that will clear it up and clear it up fast.

Fortunately for those people with pimples there are a lot of medications on the market that can help. While I’m older than most of you reading this the thing that helped me the most with my zits was tetracycline. An antibiotic. It’s one acne medicine that worked for me and antibiotics work for tons of other people as well.

You need a prescription for antibiotics so when you’re at your family doctor ask them if they can give you an antibiotic to clear up your acne. Most of the time they will. If not you can ask them for a referral to a dermatologist if your acne is really severe.

Another trick that worked for me years later during an acne flareup was the antibiotic skin creams for healing cuts and scrapes. I don’t remember what it was called but I’d apply a little of it to each pimple and it would clear them up in a couple of days.

If it’s not to severe take a trip to the drug store and look at all the over the counter medicine there is for acne relief. Take the time to read the labels for the ingredients and check carefully what, if any, the possible side affects are. It’s a good idea to talk to the pharmacist and get their opinion on what others are telling them works the best.

You also have the other options for acne medicine like clean and clear and stridex pads, which happens to work well if oil clogged pores are the cause of your pimples, and many others. Of course there are also all the ones you see advertised on television and the internet.

One of the first things to try is the anti bacterial creams and ointments. There is scientific proof that bacteria are a cause of a lot of acne. Killing the bacteria stops the acne. That’s also why antibiotics work.

Occassionally birth control pills are used as an anti acne medicine. While they work for a lot of girls and women they aren’t tested and approved for reducing or preventing zits and pimples.

Salicylic acid is found in many different forms, in OTC pads, lotions and topical creams. It works best if you only have mild acne. Try it for a week and if you don’t see improvement try something else.

A lot of OTC medications for acne have benzoyl peroxide as the active ingredient. It may work for you but be aware it can sting when applied and may also dry out your skin.

Sulfur and resorcinol are two more treatments that will clear up acne if it’s fairly mild. There is also herbal acne medicine that you can try to clear up acne.

Just remember you may have to try two or three different things, or even more acne medicine to clear up your acne as well as you can. It may take some time but don’t give up, you can have clear skin.
